CVRx Appoints Nadim Yared President and CEO
CVRx harnesses a well-understood biological reflex for the treatment of two of the most significant unmet needs in clinical medicine today: hypertension and congestive heart failure. The company has pioneered a device/electrode combination to stimulate the carotid sinus, triggering a reduction in blood pressure, even in patients who display high resistance to existing blood pressure medicines. Below, CVRx announced bringing senior Medtronic executive Nadim Yared on board as President and CEO.

CVRx, a private company that has developed an implantable medical device to treat high blood pressure, has named Nadim Yared President and Chief Executive Officer, effective October 4. CVRx's flagship product, the Rheos™ Baroreflex Hypertension Therapy™ System, is intended for use in patients who cannot control their blood pressure with medications and lifestyle modifications. The Rheos System is currently under evaluation in clinical trials in the United States and in Europe. "This is an exciting time to join CVRx, and I am thrilled for the opportunity to lead it going forward," said Yared. "The company has a unique product with the potential to address a major unmet medical need. The clinical results to date with Rheos are very promising, and I am optimistic about its future."
Previously, Yared served as Vice President and General Manager of Medtronic Navigation, the leading supplier of integrated image-guided surgery products in the world. He joined Medtronic Navigation in 2002 after a 10-year career with GE Medical, where he held engineering and marketing management positions of increasing responsibility, including Vice President and General Manager of GE's European X-ray business. Yared received an engineering degree from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications and an M.B.A. degree from Insead in Paris.
Yared will succeed Robert Kieval, a CVRx founder who has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since the company's inception in 2001. Kieval will remain on the CVRx Board and continue as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. In that role, he will focus on expanding CVRx's technology portfolio, identifying new markets for its application and other strategic initiatives.
"I am proud of CVRx's progress and look forward to working with Nadim," said Kieval. "He is a seasoned leader in the medical device industry with a strong track record of success. As we expand our product development and advance our clinical trials toward commercialization of the Rheos System, Nadim's demonstrated capabilities will be invaluable."
