TranS1's AxiaLIF™ Honored as Most Promising New Product in 2006
TranS1 has created a unique approach to the lumbar
spine utilizing interventional radiology techniques. The
product allows for minimally invasive fusion of the anterior
interbody spine in the lumbar space a procedure that
previously could only be performed with open surgery.
Below, TranS1 reports winning the "The Most Promising
New Product Award" at the 13th Annual Phoenix Conference. Previous products that have won this prestigious award include other transformative products like drug eluting stents, spinal cages, and implantable defibrillators.

TranS1, a medical device company focused on developing
minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of lower
back pain, announced today that its ground-breaking AxiaLIF™
product was awarded "The Most Promising New Product
Award" at the 13th Annual Phoenix Conference, a
medical device and diagnostics conference for chief executive
officers. In addition to receiving the award, TranS1 was
inducted into the Phoenix Hall of Fame for Medical Device
and Diagnostic Leadership.
"This is a particularly gratifying award because
the winner is selected from a large pool of innovative
new products by a vote of more than 100 seasoned medical/technology
CEOs," stated Rick Randall, President and CEO of
TranS1. "This recognition acknowledges the innovative
approach that TranS1 brings to spine surgery and underscores
the broad support we are receiving in the marketplace
as hundreds of AxiaLIF patients now enjoy a life free
of debilitating back pain. In particular, surgeons are
reporting that a growing number of their AxiaLIF procedures
are being conducted as out-patient surgery, with patients
going home the same day as their spine fusion surgery."
TranS1 has pioneered the Axial Lumber Interbody Fusion
system, AxiaLIF, which includes surgical instrumentation
providing a safe and less invasive approach for definitive
fusion of the lumbar column. This technique lessens patient
pain, lessens the likelihood of complications and dramatically
reduces hospital and recovery time. Reports from the marketplace
indicate that a growing number of AxiaLIF lumbar fusion
surgeries are being performed on an out-patient basis,
with patients able to safely and comfortably return home
the same day as their fusion surgery.
